Welcome!
I am an Associate Professor of War Studies at the Swedish Defence University, where I also serve as the Director of Studies for advanced studies.
My research and teaching concerns the relationship between households, gender, and warfare; gender, transitions, and peacebuilding; women’s activism and resistance; and ethics and methods when researching war, often with a focus on civil wars in Myanmar.
Together with Elisabeth Olivius, I am the editor of the collection “Waves of Upheaval in Myanmar: Gendered Transformations and Political Transitions” (NIAS Press, 2023). My book “Reproducing Revolution: Women’s Labor and the War in Kachinland” was published by Cornell University Press in 2025.
I am currently a co- Principal Investigator on the Women’s Activities in Armed Rebellion (WAAR) Project, funded by the United Nations Complex Data Analytics Fund. I am a member of the book review team for the International Feminist Journal of Politics.
